Claire Guier

My name is Claire, and I am a Morgan's Message ambassador. From a very young age, I struggled with the belief that I just wasn't as naturally talented at sports as the other kids around me. Between the ages of 5 and 14, I played softball, and it was a constant mental battle. Every single day, as my parents dropped me off at practice, a familiar wave of panic would wash over my mind. The peak of this struggle came the year I tried out for the 10U All-Stars team. In the years prior, I had always placed on the silver team. But that particular year, I made the bronze team. There had never been a bronze team before—it felt like they made it just for me. The moment felt deeply discouraging at the time. Over the years, however, my perspective has completely transformed. I have grown to understand that sports should fundamentally be about passion and having fun. Today, playing lacrosse and field hockey serves as my ultimate release. Instead of inducing anxiety, going to practice is now how I calm down after a stressful day, a shift that my younger self would never have been able to comprehend.
